"Start speaking now!"
For SMP dan SMA Students
🎮 Game Synopsis
If you’re having trouble because your voice isn’t being recognized, try adjusting your computer’s built-in microphone volume first!
To use the game, you need to allow your browser to access your microphone.
Please note that sometimes, when you say a grammatically incorrect sentence, Chrome may automatically display a corrected version. For example, if you say “He like milk,” which is incorrect because it should be “He likes milk,” Chrome may automatically correct it without telling you. Another example is when you say “Snake doesn’t have leg,” but Chrome changes it to “Snakes don’t have legs.” This means you may not notice the three grammar mistakes because Chrome has automatically corrected them.
That’s why it’s important to pay close attention to the sentence displayed on the screen and listen carefully to the audio so you can learn the correct sentence structure.
This page can only be used with the Google Chrome browser. It uses speech recognition technology to display the sentences you say. The feature will only work after you give the browser permission to use your microphone. When you first open the page, click “OK”, and then click “Allow” when the pop-up appears. If microphone access is blocked, you’ll see a small microphone icon in the top-right corner of the browser. Click it to open the settings and allow microphone access.
Once microphone access is enabled, you’ll see the main screen with a text box and a speech detection tool. Try speaking into your computer, and your words will appear in the text box. You may need to adjust the microphone volume so Chrome can recognize your voice more accurately. If the volume is too low or too loud, Chrome may have difficulty detecting your speech.
This screen is a great example of what speech recognition technology can do. It’s also a fun way to explore how the technology works. Once the browser recognizes your voice, the Start button will appear at the bottom of the screen. The button will only appear after you start speaking.
The main purpose of this page is to show how speech recognition technology can support English learning.
This game is not designed to train or grade your pronunciation. Instead, it helps you practice speaking English by saying the correct sentences or phrases.
While other pages on this website are mainly designed for listening practice, this page focuses specifically on speaking practice.
On the main screen, click Start to begin. The goal is to help you practice saying English sentences. A picture will appear, and you’ll need to say the sentence that matches it. If you don’t know the sentence, click the H button to see the text, or click the audio button to hear it.
Hopefully, by playing this game, you’ll gradually become more comfortable saying the sentences correctly. The learning process is simple: repeat sentences you already know and gradually learn the ones you don’t. You learn by listening and repeating. This is similar to using flashcards in class. A teacher usually shows a picture card and asks you to say the word or sentence, then provides feedback. This game brings that learning experience online.
To be clear, the game does not grade your pronunciation. There is no pronunciation score. What matters is whether you can remember and say the sentence clearly enough for the system to recognize it. The system compares what you say with the target sentence and looks for the closest match.
Each time you say a sentence, you’ll receive feedback. If your sentence matches the target sentence, a gold star will appear! ⭐
Incorrect words will be shown in red, correct words in black, and words that you leave out will be shown as “...”. After a few seconds, you’ll see the correct version of the sentence displayed in black and gray.
To make the game more exciting, each round consists of 6 sentences, and you’ll earn points for every word you say correctly. But be careful—using the audio or hint button will reduce your score!
You can access it directly below using the Chrome browser only.
